(CLOSED) Department Of Caffeine

 photo P8247226.jpg

Department of Caffeine has been making waves ever since its opening. It is not just one of the latest additions to Duxton but it's also a really popular one

The cafe was full when we got there and we waited for a short while for a table

Latte - $5

Beans from Five Senses and the product of the superb Synesso machine

Iced Latte - $6.50

The latte was slightly sour and somehow, it wasn't smooth but I grew to like it after a few sips

Buttermilk Waffle with Premium Vanilla Icecream and Butter Rum Bananas - $13.50

The fluffy waffle was a joy to dig into. I love having waffles with sweet bananas! If only the waffle was crispy, it would have been pretty perfect!

Honey Lavender Tea Cake

This was a hard one to ingest. We abandoned it after two bites. It was as if I was eating a mix of perfume and detergent. And the cake base was too dry. I tried to convince myself that maybe it takes a few bites to get used to but I really couldn't handle the taste. Or perhaps it's just me and my tastebuds.

All the dishes that had eggs in them were striked off the menu for that particular Saturday that we were there. We asked about it and they said they ran out of eggs?

DOC is well-designed and packed with pretty efficient staff but the tables were a little too close together for comfort. Not exactly somewhere where you can chill the afternoon away but I'll be back to try the main brunch items!
