A Weekend Getaway @ Resorts World Genting

 photo IMG_1774.jpg
We are always looking for a short getaway from Singapore to catch a breather and to rejuvenate our souls but we don't always have the luxury of time, or rather, days off from work to do so. How about a weekend getaway to Genting? You can leave on Friday night and get back Sunday afternoon!

We took a bus at 10pm at Boon Lay Shopping Centre and arrived at 4am at First World Hotel. The journey was so smooth, I didn’t even realise the numerous bends on the way up. Or perhaps, I was just too tired from work.

The last time I was here was probably like 10 years ago? Unfortunately, the theme park was closed for construction at the moment.

We stayed at the newly renovated XYZ rooms in First World Hotel. Its good that everything is brand new, though I thought it would be better if we had wifi and if they provided basic amenities like toothbrush and toothpaste. It was, nonetheless, a very comfortable stay with a separate bathroom and toilet.

For RM38, you get a massive spread for buffet. That’s like $13. WOW.

The Journey of Enlightenment, which depicts the ten chambers of hell, has a scary factor that far exceeds that of the one at Haw Par Villa. Warning: not for the faint-hearted.

One of America’s forefront comedy magicians, Ed Alonzo will showcase his magic cum circus show from now till 13th March 2016 at Genting Highlands. The 80 minutes fun-filled show was very entertaining, ranging from disappearing acts to card tricks.

Resort Seafood Steamboat
Fresh ingredients and seafood at an incredibly affordable price of RM638 for 8 pax is a deal not to be missed. There are more than 20 different sauces to accompany the piping hot items. Definitely makes for a great dinner

Genting’s very own in-house Gelato brand certainly warrants a try. My favourite was the Affogato Amarena (Mixed Red Berries). Other flavours worth trying include Ariancia Cheese Cake, Red Velvet and Biscotto alla Cioccolato.

A huge thank you to Resorts World Genting for the weekend getaway, and special mention to Eric and Wei En for hosting us!
