The Plain Jane @ Serangoon Avenue 4

Tucked away in the peaceful Serangoon estate is a quaint hideout that focuses on swiss rolls. The flavours available vary everyday so if you're looking for a specific flavour, it's best you ring them up prior to a visit.

Earl Grey Swiss Roll - $5.90
The fluffy swiss rolls were light and proves to be an adequate treat for those who's looking for a small snack for tea. I love that they were exceptionally generous with the cream but I would have loved for a tad more sponge.

Thai Milk Tea Swiss Roll - $5.90
I was really excited about the Thai Milk Tea roll but was a little disappointed with the subtle tea taste. Also, I felt that $5.90 is a pretty steep price to pay for the rolls, despite a selection of interesting flavours that include matcha, yuzu and raspberry. In addition, they serve up other baked goods such as scones and tea cakes, a host of unique teas and they actually do quite a decent cup of coffee too.

I probably won't make a special trip here but if I'm in the area again, I'll definitely come by to try the scones and croissants.
