Hai Tien Lo - Luxurious Weekday Dimsum Lunch Buffet

It's no secret that I love Pan Pacific Singapore. From Edge, which I believe has the best buffet spread in Singapore, to Pacific Marketplace, which has some of the most refined and unique entremets, to Atrium, where diners can dive into a beautiful selection of high tea delights, to the highly acclaimed Hai Tien Lo which consistently delivers delicious Cantonese fare with a modern twist, Pan Pacific is truly a food haven. Recently, Hai Tien Lo refreshed their dim sum buffet and there's so much to look forward to — a hot soup, unlimited servings of dim sum, 3 choices of Hai Tien Lo specialty dishes, 2 choices of dessert and a bowl of Chilled Homemade Bean Curd with Bird's Nest.

Step 1 (after ordering your beverage) : select a soup (4 options)

We were comtemplating between the Traditional Double-boiled Daily Soup and Fish Maw Soup with Fungus and Chinese Cabbage when we were recommended the nourishing fish maw soup. The hot bowl of soup really warmed me to the bones! It was so comforting!

Step 2 : Order ALL the dimsum!!! (18 options)

Okay, we didn't actually order all of them but we ordered almost every dimsum available on the menu. My favourites were the Steamed Shrimp Dumpling, Steamed Barbecued Pork Buns, Steamed Pork Spare Ribs with Fragrant Minced Garlic, Deep-Fried Beancurd Sheet Stuffed with Prawn Paste, Deep-Fried Taro Balls with Scallops, Mushrooms and Chicken Paste, Baked Barbecued Honey-Glazed Pork Pastry with Sesame, and Deep-Fried Prawn Rolls with Banana.

If I have to pick my top 3, they would be the Deep-Fried Prawn Rolls with Banana which had a generous filling of prawns and banana encased in a crisp skin, the soft and fluffy char siew bao, and the pork ribs that I just couldn't get enough of.

New and noteworthy items include Steamed Seafood with Honey Peas and Vegetable Sprout Dumpling, Steamed Xiao Long Bao with Minced Pork, Deep-fried Prawns Rolls with Wasabi Mayonnaise Wrapped in Vermicelli, and Pan-fried Shredded White Radish with Preserved Meat.

Step 3 : Pick 3 specialty dishes (13 options)

It was no easy feat picking the 3 dishes especially when everything sounded amazing! We eventually went for the Combination of Barbecued Roasted Duck and Honey-glazed Pork Belly, Stir-fried Sliced Grouper with Preserved Vegetables and Ginger Spring Onion, and Stewed Ee-Fu Noodles with Bacon and Straw Mushroom.

The delectable roasted duck and charsiew had me reaching for more, even though I was already bursting at the seams. Also, the ee-fu noodles were surprisingly delicious!

After stuffing our faces silly with a truckload of dim sum, it was time to activate our second stomachs for dessert.

Step 4 : Pick 2 dessert (4 options)
Whether you go for the Chilled Avocado Sago Cream with Sweet Corn and Palms Seed, Double-boiled Almond Cream with Fresh Lotus and Chia Seeds, Chilled Osmanthus Jelly with Quail’s Egg and Maltose, or Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Black Sesame Paste coated with Ground Nuts, you can be sure that the desserts will not disappoint. I actually really like the rice dumpling with black sesame paste! The rich and fragrant sesame paste wasn't too sweet, and I adored the texture of the dumpling. Sadly, there's only one.

Step 5 : Enjoy the complimentary Chilled Homemade Bean Curd with Bird's Nest!
The bean curd was silky smooth, and carried a light sweetness. The refreshing dessert, with a touch of opulence in the form of bird's nest, was more than satisfying, and was quite the perfect end to the wonderful spread that we just savoured.

If you have time on a weekday for an indulgent lunch buffet, or are looking for the best dimsum buffet in Singapore, go to Hai Tien Lo! You won't be disappointed. As always, great food and great service is a promise at Hai Tien Lo. If you can't take time out of your busy schedule for a weekday lunch, go for their weekend dimsum buffet.
