For me, Chinese New Year is even better when I get to celebrate it at one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Singapore — Wan Hao at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. This Lunar New Year, Wan Hao is pulling out all the stops to prepare the grandest feast for you and your loved ones.

photo The Dempsey Cookhouse and bar salted caramel icecream.jpg
The Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar has been popular since the very day they opened their doors, and for good reason. The gorgeous space is perfect for girly brunch dates, and romantic dinners — truly a venue for all occasions. Having been to The Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar when they first opened, I have fond memories of this place and even fonder memories of their Salted Caramel Icecream which, needless to say, left a lasting impression. This time round, I'm back to check out their weekday set lunch menu. Do I have to tell you that I was beyond excited?

photo porta park hotel clarke quay new years.jpg
In celebration of the most joyous season, PORTA at Park Hotel Clarke Quay has launched a Four-Course Festive Menu($66++) that's inspired by winter favourites. I believe that the menu, which is only available from 23-25 December, and on 30 and 31 December, is unbeatable in terms of value, especially during the Christmas period when Christmas feasts cost a bomb. PORTA is the place to bring your loved ones if you're looking to impress them, without burning a big hole in your pocket.

Artichoke - The Least Authentic Middle Eastern Restaurant in Singapore Serves Really Good Food

photo Artichoke singapore middle eastern dinner.jpg

I first visited the funky Artichoke back in 2010, the year that they made Sculpture Square their home. I fell in love with their meat candy, which I made multiple return trips for. Fast forward a couple of years, I still visit every now and then for brunch. Strangely, I've never been here for dinner. And I never knew how much I was missing out on until my recent dinner here, which was kind of mind-blowing to be honest. I guess there's a reason why this 9-year-old outfit by Chef Bjorn Shen is #stillnotdead.

 photo Maggie Joans mediterranean.jpg
If you're a foodie, you'll definitely have, at the very least, heard of Maggie Joan's. Well, it was my first time here, and I have to say that I was blown away. Chef Seumas Smith, the new head chef, has popped over from Moosehead, and is now at the helm of Maggie Joan's. I really like the food at Moosehead, so I know that I was in for a treat at Maggie Joan's too. Using the finest seasonal ingredients from artisanal producers in the creation of every dish, where every component is made from scratch, Chef Seumas brings out the best of every ingredient in his own magical way. Boasting 140 guest rooms, suites, villas and a mansion, Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa is known for its beautifully restored colonial architecture. Built on a piece of 10-acre land, where old British military barracks and air raid shelters stood, Amara Sanctuary has a story to tell. The rich history of the property might not be known to many, but that’s going to change now. Botanico at The Garage - New Chef, New Locally-Inspired Creations

 photo Botanico botanics dinner 8.jpg
Ever since Botanico opened its doors, it has been on my list of recommended places to go. Set amidst lush greenery, the restaurant is perfect for romantic dates, intimate family dinners, and those who just want to kick back and relax over cocktails and wine. With a new chef at its helm, Botanico has moved towards a more locally-inspired menu that is heavily influenced by Asian flavours, and built with botanical elements. The outstanding Seabass Ceviche($17), which is Chef Su's interpretation of Assam Laksa, left a really deep impression. Diced seabass is brilliantly put together with tamarind-dressed glass noodles, and a scoop of shrimp paste icecream. If there's only one dish that you can have from the menu, this has to be it. I promise that you'll fall in love with it on the very first bite

Zafferano - New Dishes from Chef Emanuele Faggi

 photo zafferano cbd.jpg
Chef Emanuele Faggi is young, creative, and absolutely brilliant. The new head chef of Zafferano, a Tuscan native, has had stints at famous restaurants(including 2-Michelin-Starred Cracco Ristorante), before taking over the kitchen at Zafferano. Chef Faggi makes sure that only the freshest produce is incorporated in his dishes, and cleverly marries seasonal produce and authentic Tuscan flavours with contemporary touches. Chef also firmly believes in the reduction of food wastage, and ever since his arrival at Zafferano, the restaurant has seen a 70% reduction in food wastage. Amazing, isn't it? "How does Chef Faggi do it?" You might ask. Well, food discards are made into powder, seasoning, or used for plating! Intrigued? You need to try his new additions to the menu then!

With multiple outlets across the island, the modern izakaya has attracted throngs of people with an attractive array of Japanese dishes that include chirashi don and yakiniku don. However, do you know that the best thing that EN Sakaba has to offer is actually their hotpot buffet which comes with a free flow of A5 Champion Miyazaki Wagyu, Zuwai Queen Crab, and Iberico Pork? This buffet was previously priced at $108 but is now going at just $78/pax. It's basically an insane deal that will leave you utterly satisfied and rubbing your tummy in glee.
