K-Ki & The Little Drom Store

Ann Siang is a wonderful place,

With interesting and delightful gems.

The Star and I went to Ann Siang one day and went to K-Ki. Much has been said about this place and what I have to say probably will be boring because everyone would probably already have known haha.

There was a pretty good range of cakes and the lady at the counter took time to introduce every cake to us. Such a sweet lady.

DOMO

Being a coffee and chocolate lover, it was by instinct that I picked Domo. It was supposed to be a good mix of chocolate and coffee mousse. However, I didn't fancy it much. Cute as it looks, I would not recommend this cake. It somehow is just not pleasing to my tastebuds

ANTOINETTE

The Star picked Antoinette which is a pretty cake with a mango centre embedded in smooth white chocolate mousse. The Antoinette was a pleaser, the white chocolate mousse was so smooth and it melts in your mouth. The chemistry between the mousse and the mango centre was so electrifying. It was really good. The Star loved it and so did I.

The Star insisted on having a cheesecake souffle but I didn't let him. Reason being we ate 2 meals for lunch. Haha. When I finally said okay, it was sold out HAHAHAHA. He couldn't get over it and kept harping on it for the rest of the day. The cheesecake souffle looks like it would have tugged on The Star's heartstrings. Poor boy hahaha but I promised him that we will go back there for his souffle soon. Haha.

Connected to K-Ki is The Little Drom Store

It is one of those really cute shops with too many interesting and cute things for you to be fascinated by. Being kids at heart, The Star and I love places like these. Hence, we spent quite an amount of time looking through all the items. They even sell Polaroid 600 films! So for people who are looking for the film, look no further! Here's the place!

Overall, we adore K-Ki. We love how the place is so simple and yet, really comfortable. We could have just sat there all afternoon talking about everything under the sun over two delicious slices of cakes.

My Twenty First [:

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been on a hiatus because I was busy preparing for my birthday party and all. Now that I'm 21 and old, I hope I'll have more money to try more food... HAHA. Sounds damn sad. Okay so anyway, my birthday was pretty damn awesome. The Star planned a whole day of activities for us. He gave me a red packet with K dollars(he drew them himself) and I was supposed to use them to buy clues and then choose the destinations based on the clues! So creative and smart hahaha. And I really enjoyed myself!

First stop was Loysel's Toy Cafe, followed by the IT fair, after which we went to Lilliputt for mini golf and to The Garden Slug for dinner and finally, dessert at Gobi. We both fell in love with Gobi, at first sight of the pretty place and at first taste of the desserts. TOO AWESOME. We ended the night with a Manchester United win over Man.City YAY!

Haha what a wonderful day and what an amazing boy! I'll blog about these places in detail soon! [:

STAY TUNED.

Forty Hands

The sun is out holidaying in KL these 2 days , and i know when she's back she will be checking to see if i blogged. if i have not posted a new entry here, she'll be pretty bitter since the last 3 posts were all by her. So here it is ! hahahaha. i know you too well. cant wait for u to be back (:

Once in awhile, i would plan a day full of activities for us on the weekends. and I would keep her in the dark about where we would be going. i like the suspense so i can surprise her when we arrive at our destination! Sometimes, she would guess it right and sometimes she wont. Well, most of the time she wont and my face would be brimming with my smugness.

I took her to forty hands at yong siak street for brunch on one of our weekends. She has been wanting to visit there and i read many good reviews about the place including awesome coffee, the sun's favourite. Forty hands is located among old shop houses and walk-up apartments. sitting in an old estate like tiong bahru, gives it a rather vintage and rustic feel which i kinda like.

Upon entering forty hands, it was packed (dont be fooled by the picture above) Given the small size and narrow layout of the cafe, its seating capacity just could not cope with the demands from its popularity. We were rather lucky and managed to get our seats pretty soon and the sun starting snapping away at the cute little things all around the cafe.

The sun ordered a dish with salmon potato soup, toast and truffle fries. And i had the "horniest" tau sar bao. Omg. i have to say that their food are reeeaaalllyyyy goood! i love the soup and the truffle fries. The soup was creamy with huge chunks of salmon and the truffle fries were just crispy and delicious. Dipping the toast into the soup followed by a mouthful of that fries is just heavenly.

And their tau sar pau is easily one of the best i've had. For me, the bun of the tau sar pau has to be fluffy and soft. It is the key to a good tau sar pau afterall you cant really go wrong with sweet red bean paste. And this , was pau at its perfection. I might have exaggerated abit, but no kidding their food is good. Its a pity we didn't order more to try.

hot buns.

hot chocolate.

For our drinks, the sun had this hot chocolate and i had an iced latte. I think this time it is real chocolate which suits the sun's taste while my iced latte was ordinary which is a tad disappointing since they are also known for their coffee. But the tasty food more than made up for it!

cute little poster which we used to grace the column on our blog! i dont mind being horny everyday if i get to eat those hot buns!!

I would certainly want to visit forty hands again to eat that tau sar pau and order more food off their menus. Just thinking of it is making me salivate. If you want to have good brunch , think no more, this is the place.

Special Post #2

Here's to my favourite boy who loves his icecream with marshmallows and gummybears.

I used to think that The Star is weird because he adds marshmallows to his icecream. Like, who does that??? Haha. Okay, actually I still think it's weird haha. And he thinks I'm weird because I add oreo to green apple froyo. Even though The Star has his weird style of eating his icecream, you will just look past his weirdness when you see how happy he is when he's eating it. Hahaha. Everytime I buy froyo now, I add marshmallows and gummy bears although I don't eat them. This is to shut him up so that he cannot complain that I am mean. HAHA no lah, I'm just kidding. Of course I add them in specially for him [:

This was at Swirlart when I refused to add marshmallows and gummy bears. HAHA only added one marsh and like maybe 3 gummy bears to appease him.

Because of him, I've learnt to try new things. Like The Star made me eat oysters, green bean soup, avocado juice, tau sar pao etc. This may sound a little strange but it's because I am extremely picky when it comes to food and I don't eat ALOT of things. And by alot, I really mean alot. Like I've never eaten watermelon and strawberries before. Yes, that's pretty messed up and insane I know. But The Star has opened up my tasting world to food that I'll never have tried if not for him. Even though I'll never try some for sure. Let's just say that I'm lucky that God has placed him in my life to bring me to more glorious food haha.

After we started dating, we've both put on alot of weight because of our eating sprees. We're constantly on the search for good food, especially desserts. It's no wonder how when we stepped on the weighing scale, we both got a shock of our lives hahaha. But I love food hunts with him nonetheless. And I love how he puts so much effort into planning them, into surprising me and into making sure that the food hunts run smoothly. Such a thoughtful boy <:

It's now 5.03 am and The Star has just gone to bed. It's time for me to turn in too.
I can go on food hunts with you forever. And I hate to say this but I guess we'll really grow fat together hahaha
Goodnight xx

Perla's Pastry Boutique

After the failed trip to Perla's the other time, we have been anticipating her re-opening. Situated in Rifle Range Road(very much secluded), are Valentino, an Italian restaurant and Perla's, a pastry boutique. They are managed by a family. Valentino is really famous and you might not even be able to get a place there despite an attempt to make a reservation two weeks in advance. I have never tried the food at Valentino but I've heard that it's really awesome. I will definitely go there sometime soon.

Anyway, we finally got to taste the famous cakes at Perla's!

Chocolate Crumble, $10.80

It was pretty good at first but as you go on, it gets pretty hard to swallow as it's very dry and quite hard. The middle part is filled with the same chocolate they used in the Perla's salami chocolate and I like it. I'd recommend the tart to be shared by at least 3

Banana Chocolate Mousse(I forgot the price)
The Star LOVED it. Haha it was really smooth and it literally melts in your mouth! And not to mention the heavenly combination of banana and chocolate. How can one not fall in love with this cake?

A muffin on the house! It was too hard for us to say it's delicious. But when we manage to bite into the middle, it is nice! If only it was in the daytime and the muffins were fresh out of the oven, I think that this muffin would be well worth a mention

I like Perla's. I like the friendly staff who joked with us and made us feel at home. We arrived at about 9pm and they were supposed to close then, but the staff told us that we could stay till 930! Really nice of them [: I'll definitely return to try more of their pastries!

Address: 7 Jalan Bingka
They close at 9pm
