Neighbourly - An Honestly Good Spot That Might be the Best Dog-Friendly Cafe in the West

It's a shame that it took me a year to discover Neighbourly by Carpenter & Cook which sits in Pandan Valley condominium. I should have known earlier given that I'm a huge fan of Carpenter & Cook and used to work part time there in 2013! I've always loved their bakes and even after I'd stop working there, I'll go back just to get their tarts and cakes. 

So I'm really happy that they're now situated nearer to me, and even though it's a far walk from ours, Snuffles and I can still walk there yay!

Here's what's amazing about Neighbourly apart from the ambience and it being dog-friendly :

1) food program is led by chef Jayden, who had stints at Odette (3 years) and Terra(1 year). Guests can expect the highest quality ingredients with almost all sauces, creams, purees etc made in-house from scratch. 

2) Bakes are by Shenn, a Le Cordon Bleu (London) alumnus who ran Carpenter & Cook for 14 solid years. Their bakes were some of the best in Singapore. My fave bakes since 2012 have been their tarts (passionfruit meringue, banoffee, chocolate caramel) and lemon drizzle cake — some of them can be found at Neighbourly! The variety of savoury bakes is great too!

3) Free parking

English Muffin Breakfast ($16) 

I love this, will defo order again!

Japanese-inspired Avocado & Smoked Salmon Open Toast ($24) 

A very pretty dish that promised a burst of flavour and freshness in every bite. 

Classic Carbonara ($24)

Good old classic carbonara that's rich, satisfying and not too heavy (for me).

Banana Loaf ($10) 

I enjoyed all the items that we tried but the banana loaf definitely stole the show. It was so fluffy, soft and fragrant! 

Neighbourly has a range of unique drinks and I enjoyed the Pistachio Cream Latte (Cold) the most. The Orange Latte (Cold) with fresh orange peel was really tasty too! 

I enjoyed the food so much that I went back after 3 days. I came by on a Monday and the selection of bakes was smaller so I'll recommend coming by on a weekend if you want to experience a bigger variety of baked goods. I tried the Pesto Prawn Pasta and a mushroom danish (I think) and also got an iced latte. 

Will be back again for sure! If you're someone's who's particular about the ingredients that goes into your food, you'll be pleased with the food here for sure. No shortcuts, no easy way out, Neighbourly is committed to good old honest practices and whipping up high quality food.
