Little Pancakes

After watching Diary of a Wimpy Kid at Junction 8 (because that's the only cinema with this movie that late) , X and I went for dessert at Little Pancakes. Anyway, if you haven't caught the show, you should! I love Rowley hahaha he's too cute.

Little Pancakes has been opened for awhile now. We first chanced upon it when it was pretty new but we went to Brownice then.

So here we were, excited about pancakes!

X knew I wanted Ape about Bananas right away haha but sadly they were out of caramelised bananas so they recommended another banana item.

Photobucket
Gimme S'more Oreos - $8.20
2 pancake stacks consisting of 10 pancakes, oreos, roasted marshmallows, biscuit crumbs, chocolate icecream from New Zealand Natural, butter and maple syrup on a big square plate.
Guess what I ate first? The marshmallow of course! The marshmallow melted in my mouth and I loved that fluffy feeling haha. The maple syrup was extraordinarily nice. All in all, I liked my pancakes! I was so full when I was on the ninth one and I didn't finish it haha

Photobucket
Peanut Butter Time - $8.20
Too much bananas maybe?
The peanut butter and banana combination is one that is loved by many. However, this peanut butter was too "dry" and also, one can get quite sick of the taste after awhile. This could definitely be improved!

There's no service charge or any additional charges unless you want to order extra toppings. Parking is available across the road along the row of shops or in the private estates behind. The staff were friendly, nice and helpful. It made dining here a pretty pleasant experience.

Will like to try their savory pancakes for brunch someday!
Do let us know what you think if you've tried their savory pancakes!

Choupinette, yet again

I honestly lost count of the number of times that I've been to Choupinette. Read about our last visit here! X and I decided to come here for brunch one weekday afternoon after our failed visit to another restaurant.

It was quiet and serene, unlike the crowded weekends.

As usual, I MUST HAVE MY FAVOURITE PEACH DANISH! Love it love it love it love it
Photobucket

Anyway, they have a new menu now!

We each ordered a brunch set that comes with a juice and a hot drink. So I had apple juice and hot chocolate while X had an apple juice and mocha.

Photobucket
Egg Royal's - $23
As always, this was awesome! Perfect poached eggs with generous portions of smoked salmon and one of the best hollandaise.
What could go wrong?

Photobucket Tristan - $21
I chose scrambled eggs and a pork sausage
The scrambled eggs were fluffy and nice. The baguette was too hard for my liking but the soft white part of it went really well with the light butter. The pork sausage was pretty yummy and the mushrooms were not bad.

We were both too full after the meal to have desserts. We were still choosing which macarons and which dessert we wanted to have before our food came hahaha

Warm and friendly service, just like always. Still one of my favourite brunch places to date. Not forgetting, my favourite peach danish [:

The Line

X and I were really excited for our buffet trip to Checkers Brasserie at Hilton. We made a reservation a few days in advance and skipped our way to the restaurant to find that only a table was occupied. We took our seats, and walked around. To our dismay, there was no sashimi, or oysters or anything else that actually looked good. So we left. I can't begin to express how disappointed we were at the buffet spread. This is Hilton, and we're gonna pay a good $50-$70 for your buffet and this is what we were supposed to eat???

We left in horror and called The Line to see if they had any tables. Fortunately for us, they weren't entirely full so we took a cab there. It was a Friday and The Line was almost as crowded as the last time we were there, on a Saturday. Read about our previous trip to The Line last December here!

Sashimi [:
We had many plates of this but I was sad that they had no swordfish that day.

While X was queuing for the oysters, I went straight for this haha. We each had 2 cups of this. Love how light it was. Even though the tehtarik was only supposed to come in a "warm" form, the server made the extra effort to make iced teh tarik for us

Photobucket
OYSTERS!
X had to queue really long for these.

Photobucket
Juicy prawns

Photobucket
Soft shell crab!
With a little pasta and a slice of pizza. The pizza spread wasn't as good as the last visit's

Photobucket

Photobucket
Laksa.

Photobucket
Have loved their duck since the last visit!

Photobucket
I like bread and butter hahaha

Photobucket
Dessert time! The desserts this time round were so much better than our previous visit's! They have tarts and swiss rolls and cakes that looked really good! I didn't eat most of the items as I don't take berries... So yeah haha.

But anyway,
THE PEACH TART WAS REALLY GOOD. We really liked it! They ran out of it pretty early. Wish there was moreee
The chocolate tart and the durian puff were not too bad

Photobucket
We didn't like the jellies

Photobucket
The tiramisu was yummy too!

Photobucket
Bread and butter pudding which wasn't really up to mark

Photobucket

We had a good meal and stuffed ourselves full haha. Although we both had diarrhea after that, we sure were happy when we were indulging ourselves!

There was a 15% DBS discount so I think we each paid about $49 for the buffet [: Very worth the money!

Menya Sandaime/ Shan Ding Mu/ Kiraku Izakaya @ Hongdae (Seoul)

We ate Japanese cuisine a couple of times while we were in Korea. These are three of the Japanese restaurants in Hongdae that we really liked!

1) Menya Sandaime

Photobucket
One of the most interesting menus I've seen

Photobucket
Black Ramen - 8000 won
The boss told us that the black ramen is only slightly spicy. But when I tasted it, I thought it was super spicy! But the spiciness fades as quickly as it hits you, but leaves a lingering sting in your throat. It was quite an experience I must say. The more you dig into this bowl of noodles, the more you'll love it

Photobucket
Ramen -7000 won
My ramen was sumptuous and the noodles were springy and nicely cooked.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Gyoza - 3000 won
The gyoza were blow-torched and they were absolutely yummy! Really loved the crispiness!

Ramen - 7000 won
X ordered this and it was so good! The soup carried the sweetness of corn. The sweetness did not overwhelm and it complemented the savory side of the soup really well!

 Photobucket
Beef Rice Bowl -7000 won
I ordered this and spent most of the time moping about not ordering the ramen instead hahaha. Even though X offered to swop with me many times but NO, I am very noble to let him have the tasty soup. Haha the beef bowl was not too bad. The beef was tender and the sauce was pretty good

3) Kiraku Izakaya
It was almost midnight when X and I went food hunting. We walked for what seemed like a really long time before we chanced upon this

Photobucket
We decided to give it a shot since everything else that was open didn't really appeal to us.

Photobucket

Photobucket
I don't know what these were exactly but they were DELICIOUS. We had them refilled like 5 times hahaha too good.

Photobucket
We had trouble conversing with the waitress and we tried to order "soup" and "rice" so this is what we got. At first, when the pot first arrived, I was like.... Err doesn't look very nice

Photobucket

But don't judge a book by its cover! The soup was a little on the sticky side but it was yummy. The rice blocks had a sort of burnt taste that added more flavour to the soup. Also, the portion of seafood was very generous!

This was surprisingly good and X really enjoyed it haha

Keisuke Tonkotsu King

X chose a dinner venue but he didn't tell me where we were going. At first, he said we were going to MBS, then when we reached Craig Road, he told me that we're gonna eat at some famous Peranakan restaurant. What a liar haha. Then finally, we reached Keisuke Tonkotsu King! We were greeted by the really long queue and waited for close to an hour to get into the restaurant.

Black Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen Special - $15.80
The soup was really tasty! The hint of spiciness grows on you!

Photobucket
Tonkotsu Ramen Special - $14.80
The noodles had a great texture. And the soup was yummy. The tamago was nicely cooked with a runny yolk. We each had an extra tamago!

Photobucket
Biggest piece of chasyu ever. How generous!

The long queue at Keisuke Tonkotsu King is definitely justified. They have one of the best ramen in Singapore! Also, the portion was pretty huge. We were both extremely full. The tasty soup left us really thirsty afterwards though. Haha. The service was pretty efficient and we received our food shortly after we were seated.

If you're a ramen-lover, you've gotta try the ramen here!
