Sum Kee Food

I've heard much about Sum Kee Food but I've never had the chance to try it til recently! Four of us headed down to Sum Kee which had just relocated from river valley to telok blangah. X and I had a little trouble locating the place but it is actually really accessible as it is right next to the main road.

We have with us guest food tasters C and H on this visit!

Watercress soup which was yummy! I've never liked watercress soup as I feel that the taste of the veggie is always too overwhelming. It wasn't so for Sum Kee's! And I enjoyed it.

Ultra Man Chicken.
This was our favourite dish! C felt that it is an excellent dish to go with beer while the rest of us just liked it very much. My personal favourite of all the dishes! You'll like it too if you like salted egg yolk!

Sunny tofu which C read as skinny tofu haha.
Braised tofu topped with pork floss. We all agreed that the tofu was too bland

Curry fish head!
Sum Kee is well known for their curry fish head!
H said that the ladyfingers and eggplant were cooked to perfection and the curry was good as it wasn't too milky. X said that it was definitely one of the better curry fishheads he's ever tried. As for myself, I can't really take stuff that is too spicy but this was just right for me. It was spicy but not too spicy. Haha and so, I liked it!

Photobucket
Sweet and sour pork
The dish that can never go wrong.

Overall, X, H and I enjoyed our dinner at Sum Kee whereas C was pretty harsh on his comments on all the dishes. Well, he's harsh on almost everything in life hahaha. Oh yeah X and I ordered barley which was too diluted but the staff changed his drink for him when he brought it to their attention [:

Do check out Sum Kee for their famous curry fish head and ultraman chicken!

Wafflelicious

The name says it all.

Waffles can be found at most icecream parlours and some have said that waffles generally taste the same. Well, I don't know about you but I know I met a good waffle at Wafflelicious!

Located along upper thomson where you can find Sara's, Old School Delights etc, Wafflelicious is not difficult to locate at all. With its big signboard, it is bound to catch your eye. And parking is readily available just outside the shop.

Looking for more than the ordinary waffle? Here's the place for you!
Photobucket
They have waffles in many interesting flavours! Banana, cinnamon, green tea... We took really long to decide. The unadventurous part of us won this time round as we opted for the original waffle. There were 4 icecream flavours available. Chocolate chip, dark chocolate, vanilla and raspberry. We were pretty full from dinner so we decided on just an original waffle with a scoop of icecream. I was torn between the chocolate chip and dark chocolate because they were both gooddd. Guess what we got in the end!

Photobucket
Original waffle with chocolate chip icecream and maple syrup! $6.20

The waffle was crispy and fragrant and the inside was fluffy and soft. It was good! Coupled with a scoop of yummy icecream and maple syrup, this was a winner! And with a price this good, we know exactly where to go to satisfy any craving for waffles in the future. Also, Wafflelicious opens till pretty late and it is definitely the place for you if you're looking for desserts after 10pm or a hang-out place that operates till late.

7-inch Square Pizza

A little pizza stall recently opened within a small coffee shop in central Singapore. We all love coffee shops for 2 reasons, affordable prices or delicious food. And when we discover hidden finds like this that delivers on both levels, we are certainly delighted.

This stall is started by an enterprising young man and his friend who aspire to fulfill their dreams and build an empire starting from this very first step. Ju Seng Huat coffee shop at St george's road is where their dream is being incubated.

(7’’)2 pizza

The stall got its name from their square pizza that is 7 inches by 7 inches unlike the conventional round pizza. Pardon the quality of the pictures as the lighting was bad but allow my review to do the pizza justice.

Three pizzas on our first order

Photobucket
Tom yam pizza $3.90

This is a definite must try! The home-made tom yum sauce hits all the right notes with the taste buds. It has your usual tom yum fragrance with a tinge of a sour aftertaste. Perfect as the appetizer. We loved it!

Photobucket
Mushroom pizza $3.90

Mushrooms and cheese and a crunchy pizza crust. Need I say more?

Photobucket
Pepper pork pizza $3.90

Freshly stir-fried pork is the main ingredient in this pizza. Cheese with fatty pork meat might seem like a weird combination but this pizza packs quite a surprise. You might just fall in love with it!

Photobucket
Pepperoni pizza $3.90

The all-time favourite, Pepperoni! Enough said. Superb with cheese and the thin crust. Another must try!

I feel that this little pizza stall has all the makings of a successful business. Tasty quality food at really affordable prices. For the taste and portion, $3.90 is DEFINITELY a steal! And with 10 different flavours to choose from, you're in for a treat.

So head on down soon, mention "Strictly Ours"and you might find more ingredients on your pizza! Enjoy!

Drips Bakery Cafe

It was a rainy Saturday afternoon but we still decided to go for brunch (:

We felt that the "back" portion seemed disconnected and incompatible with the design of the "front" portion of the cafe

Iced chocolate - $6

Usually I'll opt for hot chocolate and X will take coffee. But today I ordered a latte instead and knowing that I'd wanna try the chocolate still, X got the iced chocolate. Such a sweetiepie hahaha.
Anyway, the iced chocolate was impressive! We loved it. The one time that I chose coffee over chocolate, the chocolate had to be so good haha.

Photobucket
my latte - $4.80
We didn't think that the latte was very impressive. Just average.

Photobucket
USA Black Forest ham with scrambled eggs served with grilled seasonal veggie and freshly baked alpine grain and cranberry toast -$15.80

Photobucket
big piece of ham

Photobucket
The alpine toast was yummy and fragrant! Apart from the huge portion of grilled vegetables that we didnt really fancy, this dish was good!

Photobucket
Norwegian salmon croissant - $11.80

Veggie lovers should definitely visit Drips. Look at the portion of veggies that they give! But unfortunately for me, I don't eat veggie and spent quite some time taking them out haha.

Photobucket
X thought that the floating coffee behind was cool -_- What a kid.
Haha the croissant was pretty normal. But I had extra ingredients (egg and ham) from X's dish!

Photobucket
Cinnamon pear tart - $6.80
We like the crust and the mixture of pear and cinnamon. Unique and pleasant.

Photobucket

Overall Drips is good place for brunch and the food is pretty good! Parking lots are readily available just a short walk away and you can even park right outside the cafe! Also, the loathsome 10% service charge is absent in their billing. Hurray for that! There were many customers who bought their cakes and such but we were too full to try them. Maybe next time! (:
