Venezia (Guthrie House)

Venezia is not somewhere we would blog about unless its exceptional or, an utter disappointment. So guess which way are we heading?

I sent Waffles for grooming at Royalville and it was raining so X, XM and I decided to head to Guthrie for some waffles and icecream loving at Venezia.

So here we were, at the counter trying out different flavours and the only staff at work was busy doing her own things and not really attending to us. Is it not courtesy to serve your customers first before returning to any tasks of any sort? She handed us a sample, returned to whatever she was doing, and upon us saying "excuse me", did she return to attend to us. This happened a few times. And she never smiled and never made us feel welcomed.

We did not have to wait very long before the Waffles arrived.
They look pretty different from how I remembered them to be.

Waffle with bananas, salty caramel and cookies and cream.
Reminds me of why people say looks can be deceiving.

We were given the wrong icecream and hence, X returned to the counter to inform the staff about it. The staff adamantly said and re-emphasized that we ordered cookies and cream. After a while of that little drama, she finally asked if we wanted to change it and yes we did. So, she scooped away the icecream from the waffle, threw it away, and replaced it with a scoop of crunchy nut. We're not being cheapo here but don't they usually just leave the icecream on your plate if they gave you the wrong flavour? But yeah okay.

Next, onto the waffles. The waffles were served at room temperature. Not even warmed up at all. And they were soft and hollow. What happened to the crispy and fluffy waffles they used to have?

Well, at least not everything sucked. XM and X liked the belgian chocolate icecream and I liked my salty caramel.

But we were extremely disappointed with their waffles, and not to mention, the service.

Gonna tell my mum never to patronise this outlet anymore.

Wafflelicious

The name says it all.

Waffles can be found at most icecream parlours and some have said that waffles generally taste the same. Well, I don't know about you but I know I met a good waffle at Wafflelicious!

Located along upper thomson where you can find Sara's, Old School Delights etc, Wafflelicious is not difficult to locate at all. With its big signboard, it is bound to catch your eye. And parking is readily available just outside the shop.

Looking for more than the ordinary waffle? Here's the place for you!

They have waffles in many interesting flavours! Banana, cinnamon, green tea... We took really long to decide. The unadventurous part of us won this time round as we opted for the original waffle. There were 4 icecream flavours available. Chocolate chip, dark chocolate, vanilla and raspberry. We were pretty full from dinner so we decided on just an original waffle with a scoop of icecream. I was torn between the chocolate chip and dark chocolate because they were both gooddd. Guess what we got in the end!

Original waffle with chocolate chip icecream and maple syrup! $6.20

The waffle was crispy and fragrant and the inside was fluffy and soft. It was good! Coupled with a scoop of yummy icecream and maple syrup, this was a winner! And with a price this good, we know exactly where to go to satisfy any craving for waffles in the future. Also, Wafflelicious opens till pretty late and it is definitely the place for you if you're looking for desserts after 10pm or a hang-out place that operates till late.

Salted Caramel

Salted Caramel is a pretty new ice-cream parlour in Thomson. It's kinda next to Meng's Kitchen. I've been there a couple of times and I really like their horlicks tim tam icecream! Their salted caramel is not bad too. I've also tried the kahlua which will please you if you're a coffee lover! Their earl grey is not bad too! In addition to their icecream, they also have cakes and what everyone loves, waffles and brownies. Their waffles are crispy and fragrant and when served warm with a scoop of icecream, you just can't stop digging into your waffle.

Haha. As for the brownies, I personally feel that their brownies are not bad.
However they are served with hersheys chocolate sauce and I hate Hershey's chocolate sauce.. But other than that, I think the brownies are pretty good!

They have a cute little corner where there's a toy kitchen with cooking utensils, a pretty good play area for kids and even for adults (like The Star and I who started playing with the toys HAHA)

The place is pretty packed almost all the time(or at least when I was there) and it can take quite awhile before you can get a table.

Do head on down to try their creations if you're in the area! Some icecream after Meng's barchormee. Sounds good doesn't it?
