Tang is a contemporary Chinese steamboat restaurant that takes pride in their elegantly designed 38-seater and utmost commitment to serving up only the freshest ingredients. Tang boasts a really attentive service crew, an intimate setting and a collection of two private rooms that is perfect for larger groups and families. They are definitely a new contender for the best steamboat in Singapore.

Combination Pot with 2 Soups - $21
There are three msg-free soup bases - House's Special, Tomato and Sichuan. The House's Special is the most popular soup base and is made by boiling hens, pork, fish bones and medicinal herbs together for more than 8 hours. The result is a nutritious and tasty broth. I prefer the Tomato soup as it has a subtle tanginess that was really addictive. The Sichuan broth, a crowd favourite, is made from more than 40 different spices and herbs in a perfect proportion that is intensely studied and developed by Chef over five long years.

Dumplings in Sichuan Sauce - $5
This looks like an absolute killer but was surprisingly not that spicy. Chef is from Sichuan and has included a few Sichuan specialties such as Mapo Tofu ($12) and Spicy Sichuan Chicken ($22) in the menu.

Mushrooms Platter - $12
Most of the ingredients are sourced daily from local markets and they are in limited quantities so be sure to make a reservation! They have quite a wide range of premium meats like A4 Japanese Toriyama Wagyu and a delightful selection of live seafood that includes Jade Abalone, Australian Lobster and Kuruma Prawns.

Homemade Cilantro Meat Balls - $14
The homemade meat balls are firm, springy and you can just taste the freshness in them. Apart from the meatballs, you should definitely order the Shrimp Paste Dome too! They are both painstakingly minced by hand and have a great bite.

Translucent Sliced Fish (12 Slices) - $22

Spanish Iberico Pork - $25/200g, $14/100g
The quality meats are thinly sliced and absorb the flavours of the broth really well. Don't be surprised if you find yourself tempted to order a couple more portions!

Your steamboat feast comes complete with homemade sauces crafted from Chef's secret recipes and an appetizer that changes daily. A friendly member of the crew will be assigned to every table to ensure that the dining experience runs smoothly and that the ingredients are cooked well. I really enjoyed dinner and while it may be a tad pricey, amounting to about $60/pax for this particular meal, I think that for the quality and service that I'm receiving, it is definitely worth the splurge.
