(CLOSED)Shinkei Japanese Restaurant @ Lorong 4 Toa Payoh

 photo sashimi_2.jpg
In the heart of Toa Payoh lies Shinkei Japanese Restaurant, an establishment that offers affordable Japanese lunch and dinner sets as well as a à la carte buffet!

The main highlight and my absolute favourite was the Sashimi Moriawase. The luscious platter is served on a bed of ice. Each thick slab felt and tasted so fresh. There were different types available: tuna, yellow tail, salmon, swordfish, snapper, octopus and squid. The yellow tail in particular was divine. It was wonderfully sweet, chilled and fresh. I would just keep ordering sashimi till my heart and stomach’s content.

Fu Lin Men Dou Lao @ North Canal Road

 photo thumb_P1111292_1024.jpg
Fu Lin Men Dou Lao has been opened since April 2015 but they haven't done much publicity till now because the star behind the dishes and cuisine here has only managed to come to Singapore recently.  Master Chef Nian who is the two-time winner of the grand Manchu and Han Royal Imperial Court Feast (known as “Man Han Quan Xi”) culinary quest by China Central Television is the brilliant mind behind much of the conceptualisation of the menu.

The good people behind my favourite coffee haunt, Assembly Coffee, has opened up Atlas in a more accessible spot in Bukit Timah. With an expanded menu and a bigger space, I wasn't the least bit surprised to find Atlas packed to the brim as I walked in on their second day of operation.

Oh My Tian @ Whampoa West

 photo ohmytian4.jpg
Oh My Tian is the work of the people who brought you the highly popular Hatter Street at Hougang. So if you're thinking that this plate of waffles looks incredibly familiar, it is because you probably have seen or tasted it before. We ordered a Whoaffles with Vanilla Icecream and Salted Caramel Sauce ($9.50) to share and it did not disappoint with that crisp exterior and dense insides. It is definitely one of the better waffles that I've had in Singapore. My only gripe was that a part of the waffles was slightly bitter and it might have been a tad burnt.

Legendary Cart Noodles 傳奇車仔面 @ Jurong Point 2

 photo Intro.jpg

The origins of cart noodles date back to the 1950s in Hong Kong when it was a common sight to see street hawkers peddling bowls of noodles from their carts in the less affluent areas. At present day, the street hawker trade has dwindled but these iconic cart noodles still continue to thrive as a Hong Kong favourite.

(CLOSED)King Feast New Year's Eve Menu @ Salt Tapas & Bar (Raffles City)

 photo thumb_PC030989_1024.jpg
The luxurious King Feast at Salt Tapas & Bar is truly fit for royalty. Diners can choose from two variations, land or sea, and I promise you that both are equally good. I prefer the sea version which had oysters, lobster, brown crab and rainbow trout, but the land one was really fantastic too. This menu is only available on New Year's Eve and if you're looking for a great evening filled with wonderful food, great vibes, nice music and commendable service, this might just be the place for you!

Christmas 2015 @ InterContinental Singapore

 photo thumb_P9309536_1024.jpg
Nobody does a party better than InterContinental Singapore. I was dazzled by the huge ballroom cast in purple glow and dressed up like a winter wonderland. Stepping into the ballroom felt like I was stepping into some sort of fairytale.
