Red House Seafood - Best Pen Cai for a Prosperous & Auspicious Chinese New Year 2022!

red_house_seafood_chinese_new_year_2022
Longstanding Red House Seafood is one of the oldest seafood restaurants in Singapore, and it's no surprise at all. Consistently sending out the tastiest seafood dishes crafted by old master chefs, the restaurant, which currently has 3 outlets, is always a hot spot for an amazing dinner, and intimate reunion feasts. The outlet at Grand Copthorne is the prettiest one of all, and is also a popular venue for wedding banquets. My family used to go to Red House Seafood alot when I was a kid, but as I grew up, we had fewer dinners together and haven't been back in awhile. After trying a few highlights from the Chinese New Year menu at Red House, I immediately told my family that we are heading back here for CNY!

It shouldn't come as a surprise, though, because the famous restaurant is amazing at what they do — every dish is thought through carefully, prepared with love, and meticulously assembled.

Tamashii Robataya - Best Beef Bowl, Best Yusheng and Yummy Omakase

 photo Tamashii Robataya Yu Sheng.jpg
I've had quite a number of yusheng platters this year but little did I expect to find my absolute favourite at a Japanese restaurant. The truffle-infused yusheng comes with salmon sashimi, yellow tail sashimi, surf clam salad, jellyfish, salmon soft skull and house-made crab crackers. Apart from the incorporation of more uncommonly-seen ingredients, another noteworthy feature is the crab crackers which were unbelievably addictive. The truffle sauce binds every ingredient together flawlessly and while some may find this a little too sweet, it was perfect for me. This was the first time that I've witnessed an entire plate of yusheng cleaned out. Well, it comes as no surprise. I loved it!

Yàn Cantonese Cuisine Celebrates the Year of the Fire Rooster

photo Yan Cantonese Cuisine CNY 2017 1.jpg
Almost every restaurant in Singapore has a Chinese New Year menu, or their very own renditions of yusheng and it might be challenging to decide on a restaurant to have reunion dinner at. My family usually sticks to the same old restaurants that we trust and love. I'm not sure about you but maybe you will like to give the one year old Yàn at National Gallery a shot this lunar new year.

Chinese New Year Luncheon @ Pan Pacific Singapore

 photo pan pacific media luncheon.jpg
The Chinese New Year Luncheon was quite an extravagant affair which started with an energetic lion dance performance with Pan Pacific Singapore's very own "lions", followed by various other performances on stage while signature dishes from all the properties under Pan Pacific Hotel Group were served. An adorable monkey from Pan Pacific Singapore arrived at our table, and he brought golden baby abalones and crispy whitebait fish with him, sending the entire ballroom into a joyous cheer as everyone tossed to a prosperous year ahead.

Chinese New Year @ INDOCAFE - the white house

photo indocafe chinese new year 2016.jpg
INDOCAFE takes on Cantonese cuisine this lunar new year with different set menus. The Prosperous Menu, tailored for 3 - 4 pax, will be featured in this post. The meal kicked off with the Glorious Prosperity Yu Sheng with Baby Abalone which was definitely a notch above the rest with the unique inclusion of house made curry sauce. The subtle flavours of the curry sauce melded flawlessly with all the ingredients. While it was on the light side, I still enjoyed the little twist.

Whampoa Keng isn’t just well known for its steamboat and zi char dishes but also for its amusing yet illustrious history. The business started as a single hawker stall and has since become two restaurants, a collective of successful food outlets and a catering operation. The two restaurants are located along Balestier Road and Rangoon Road and they’re both managed by the founder’s first and second wife respectively.
