Birds of a Feather - New Weekend Brunch with a Taste of Sichuan

photo Birds of a Feather 2.jpg
Just six months old, Birds of a Feather has really made a name for itself with its repertoire of contemporary Western dishes that are inspired by traditional Sichuan cuisine. The restaurant is gorgeous. It has natural light streaming through the glass roof in the day, and it rocks a romantic ambience when night falls. And now, they have launched a new all-day weekend brunch that runs from 10am to 5pm. The Hong Shao Beef Ragout Orecchiette ($26) is an absolute must-try!

Hooked@Edge - My Favourite Buffet in Singapore has Even More Seafood Now!

photo Hooked  Edge Pan Pacific 13.jpg
When asked where's my favourite buffet place in Singapore, my answer is always "Edge at Pan Pacific Singapore". The spread is always incredibly extensive, especially luxurious and of only the best quality. My favourite sections are the dessert corner, seafood on ice section and live grill station, but I also love the pasta, bread and sashimi sections! The buffet line-up has recently been revitalised with new creations and diners can look forward to Oatmeal Crayfish, Nyonya King Prawn Laksa, Wok-fried King Lala Beehoon, Cuttlefish Tagliolini Pasta, Prawn Panggang with Sea Salt, Steamed Mussels Pot and more.

The Reading Room Cafe - Newly Launched Weekend Brunch

 photo The Reading Room 4.jpg
The Reading Room has been around for four years now and the quaint little cafe is a book cafe by day, and bar by night. The cafe is stocked full of books and vintage decorations. There's a little piece of Paris in this place and I like that very much.

photo Burger and Lobster Resorts World Genting 1.jpg
Stepping into SkyAvenue at Resorts World Genting made me feel like I was stepping into a relatively high-end mall. It doesn't look anything like the Genting that I was familiar with. It's like a breath of fresh air, and I like it. The new mall boasts world-famous restaurants and even Singaporean favourites like llaollao and Gong Cha. From Chinese cuisine, to Korean cuisine, to Western cuisine, there is truly something for everyone here.

Tamashii Robataya - Best Beef Bowl, Best Yusheng and Yummy Omakase

 photo Tamashii Robataya Yu Sheng.jpg
I've had quite a number of yusheng platters this year but little did I expect to find my absolute favourite at a Japanese restaurant. The truffle-infused yusheng comes with salmon sashimi, yellow tail sashimi, surf clam salad, jellyfish, salmon soft skull and house-made crab crackers. Apart from the incorporation of more uncommonly-seen ingredients, another noteworthy feature is the crab crackers which were unbelievably addictive. The truffle sauce binds every ingredient together flawlessly and while some may find this a little too sweet, it was perfect for me. This was the first time that I've witnessed an entire plate of yusheng cleaned out. Well, it comes as no surprise. I loved it!

Almost every restaurant in Singapore has a Chinese New Year menu, or their very own renditions of yusheng and it might be challenging to decide on a restaurant to have reunion dinner at. My family usually sticks to the same old restaurants that we trust and love. I'm not sure about you but maybe you will like to give the one year old YĂ n at National Gallery a shot this lunar new year.
