The Bar at Morton's - Best Happy Hour Deal in Singapore! Free Steak Sandwiches!

photo The Bar at Mortons 6.jpg
Morton's is a renowned steakhouse that does an incredibly mean steak. The portions are huge, the food is delicious, prices are reasonable, the ambience is lovely, and the service is impeccable — what's not to love? While their centre-cut ribeye and centre-cut filet mignon are the undeniable stars, their mortinis are equally outstanding. Morton's is more than generous with the amount of gin or vodka that they pour into your mortini glass. 3 ounces, nothing less, is a promise that they've upheld for ages, and the very reason why people keep coming back for them.

MORtini night, which runs daily, is undeniably a huge hit. It is essentially the bar's happy hour. The bar is always packed from 5pm-7pm every evening, and if you haven't been, you really should! Grab a signature mortini (Cosmopolitan, Appletini, Chocolate Mortini, Lycheetini) at just $15.95, and enjoy complimentary steak sandwiches! The Singapore outlet is the only outlet in the whole world that still sends out free steak sandwiches! If this is not the hottest, and the best happy hour deal in Singapore, I don't know what is. $15.95 for a REAL cocktail served in a legit martini glass, with 3 ounces of gin/vodka is a steal enough. But Morton's still wants to spoil you with filet mignon sandwiches. Oh my, how do I stop loving you, Morton's?

Regent Tea Lounge - An Indulgent Weekday Afternoon Tea in the Heart of Orchard

photo Regent Tea Lounge afternoon tea 9.jpg
Having tea on a weekday afternoon is not something that we can do very often. Hence, when we get the chance to kick back and enjoy a luxurious afternoon tea session, we have to make sure that we choose wisely, don't we? The weekday three-tier afternoon tea at Regent Singapore, which is affordably priced at $45/pax, promises to please your palate and fill you to the brim. The tea starts at 12pm, and runs all the way to 5pm. While I didn't spend the full 5 hours here, those who plan to have a long catch-up session with their beloved girl pals will definitely enjoy their time in the revamped colonial garden setting. While the typical afternoon tea sets offer just the stated set, and drinks, Regent has made it their top priority to ensure that guests are very well taken care of with the inclusion of a mini buffet that features mini pastries, salads, sandwiches, Italian cheeses and other small bites.

The Summerhouse - The Ultimate Garden Paradise Offers New Experiences

 photo The Summerhouse domes.jpg
The Summerhouse has just turned one, and the past year has been a glorious one indeed. Stepping into its second year, The Summerhouse has introduced attractive transformations, and is offering more enchanting experiences. The Summerhouse Garden Domes, which are dressed in Bohemian, Scandinavian, or Lounge themes, have been really popular since their launch. Numerous marriage proposals have been held in them, and you can imagine how in demand the domes were when Valentine's Day came around. The edible garden has also blossomed spectacularly, and has been an essential source of ingredients for the culinary team which has just refreshed their menu.

(CLOSED)Au Petit Salut Celebrated Her Last Valentine's Day

photo Au Petit Salut Valentines Day 6.jpg
Au Petit Salut has been on my to-go list for the longest time. I'm glad to have dined there this valentine's day because it was actually their very last valentine's day. The restaurant was running its last service the next day, 15th February. I didn't know that they were closing but I caught wind of it when this couple, whom I assume were regulars, spoke to a staff about the closing. Well, thank goodness I had a chance to dine here before the restaurant was gone for good!

(CLOSED) Le Binchotan - Amazing Japanese-French Creations with a Rich Smokiness

photo Le Binchotan uniĀ  caviar.jpg
Le Binchotan has been around for awhile now, but the new chef-owner, Jeremmy, who have had stints at Iggy's and Sola, has refreshed things, injected more goodness into the food, and is bringing even more to the table. The name Le Binchotan is a combination of a French word, and a Japanese word, and this captures the essence of the restaurant perfectly. The restaurant specialises in Japanese-French flavours that are elevated with a trademark smokiness that can only be achieved with the use of binchotan, a rare and expensive charcoal.

(CLOSED)Dinner by Heston Blumenthal - Is This Famous Restaurant Worth a Visit?

photo Dinner by Heston Melbourne 8.jpg
I made a reservation at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal quite sometime before my trip to Melbourne. I was super stoked for my dinner here. The kind folks at Dinner saved me a table by the window, even though it was just me. I was quite touched as I thought that they would give such lovely seats to couples or families, instead of a lone diner, especially when the restaurant was full.

Beauty in the Pot - Newest and Biggest Outlet at OneKM Mall

photo Beauty in the pot onekm 10.jpg
Beauty in the Pot is possibly Singapore's favourite hotpot place. I've eaten here countless of times, and I remain addicted to their Signature Beauty Collagen Soup, and Fried Beancurd Skin. There were times that I travelled all the way from my home in the west to Centrepoint in the wee hours of the morning just because I had to satiate those intense cravings. Many would compare Beauty in the Pot to Hai Di Lao, which isn't unusual. I am a huge fan of Hai Di Lao too, having first tried it back in 2013. I love their tomato soup, and their fish slices, and I've dined there numerous times too. However, in all honesty, ever since I've tried BITP, I have only been to HDL once, because I was already at Clarke Quay. Are you a huge fan of BITP too? If so, you'll be pleased to know that they have opened their largest outlet, yet, at OneKM mall, just a level above their very first outlet in Singapore.

Don Play Play - Best Japanese Food Delivery in Singapore

 photo IMG_7799.jpg
Started by three friends who each has a background in the F&B industry, Don Play Play is set to be the next big delivery player in town. A cheeky play on the famous phrase “don’t play play”, Don Play Play is quintessentially “Singlish”, and Singaporean. The team hopes that the catchy name, which was thought up by Miss Tam Chiak, Singapore's favourite food blogger, will capture the attention of the masses, and also reflect that Don Play Play is a proud homegrown brand. As the name suggests, Don Play Play focuses on whipping up the yummiest dons or rice bowls. They have rolled out four tantalizing flavours to dazzle the tastebuds of the lucky students and residents of the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, and six creations for the working professionals in the CBD.

The Farm Cafe (Collingwood Childrens' Farm) - One of Melbourne's Best Cafes

photo The Farm Cafe Collingwood 7.jpg
The Farm Cafe is not the most accessible cafe, especially if you aren't driving. However, I promise you that this cafe will be worth the trip! You can easily spend hours here. Start by having a lovely brunch at the cafe, before taking a walk around the farm, and get ready for guinea pig cuddles and cow milking sessions!

Sushi Jin - One of the Best Omakase Dinners in Singapore

 photo Sushi Jin Omakase 1.jpg
I'm not an expert when it comes to omakase dinners, especially when I haven't dined at the big names. Shinji, Hashida, Sushi Jiro, and Shoukouwa are on my list but till my bank account is fuller, I won't be able to indulge in a dinner at any of these establishments. I have, however, been on the lookout for awesome omakase dinners that come with a more pocket-friendly price tag. In recent times, I've dined at Ryo Sushi twice, and Hakumai. And now, Sushi Jin by the Les Amis Group.

Li Bai at Sheraton Towers is a household name. The Cantonese restaurant has withstood the test of time, and remains one of Singapore's best restaurants. The winner of multiple prestigious accolades, Li Bai continues to blow diners away with a plethora of beautifully-executed Cantonese dishes. Because Li Bai is often fully booked for the whole of Chinese New Year, some families and companies have chosen to celebrate the Lunar New Year way before it even starts, just to dine at their favourite Cantonese restaurant. Wan Hao - Best Restaurant for Reunion Dinner this Chinese New Year

photo Wan Hao Marriott CNY 1.jpg
Wan Hao, the resident Chinese restaurant at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel is one of the top Chinese restaurants on our little red dot, and also one of Singaporeans' absolute favourite. Every year, Wan Hao is completely booked throughout all 15 days of the Lunar New Year. It shouldn't come as a surprise, though, because the famous restaurant is amazing at what they do — every dish is thought through carefully, prepared with love, and meticulously assembled.

Hakumai - Inexpensive Sushi Omakase in Tanjong Pagar

 photo Hakumai Singapore.jpg
Omakase in Singapore definitely doesn't come cheap. We are talking about the ones which have perfected the sushi rice, the ones that use premium and fresh ingredients, and the ones who know how best to highlight the pristine flavours of each type of fish. Sushi omakase has long been stereotyped as a meal that will burn a deep hole in your pocket. Shinji, Hashida, and Tatsuya are some of the big names that most frequently pop into our minds when the word 'omakase' is mentioned. Dinner at any of these dining establishments will set you back at least $300 - $500. Hence, people always think that a good omakase meal is out of their reach, and budget. However, that is certainly not the case.

Hakumai offers both omakase and kaiseki. There are two types of omakase available — sushi omakase($68.80), and omakase course(market price)

Moosehead - Extraordinary Mediterranean Cuisine in the CBD

 photo Moosehead Amoy 5.jpg
Telok Ayer Street is home to many restaurants but none stands out quite the way Moosehead does. A champion of Mediterranean cuisine, Moosehead continuously sends out hearty and delicious small plates which are built by Chef Seumas, who helms the kitchen. Chef's Seumas' creative mind and refined palate enables him to bring together different elements like they are all pieces that belong to the same jigsaw puzzle. Every dish is a beautiful ensemble of lovely flavours and a showcase of fine produce.

The Octopus($30) sees sliced tentacles of New Zealand octopus cooked sous-vide style and grilled on binchotan until the outer edges are crispy-crunchy. Crispy fried potato, red pepper puree, paprika, extra virgin olive oil and chives are part of the cast. The colourful dish is not just a sight to behold, but it will definitely please your palate too. I've had numerous grilled octopus dishes before, but they are often too charred for my liking. This was perfect, and quite possibly my favourite octopus dish to date.

WAKANUI Grill Dining Singapore - Delicious Ocean Beef and Spring Lamb!

 photo Wakanui Marina One 6.jpg
WAKANUI is a big name in Tokyo, and should be no stranger to all who have been to Tokyo and were in search of a great steakhouse. I chanced upon WAKANUI when I was in Tokyo, but unfortunately did not get a chance to dine there, so imagine my joy when I realised that the very WAKANUI at Marina One (the only overseas franchise) is almost an exact replica of the one in Tokyo. WAKANUI is situated on the fourth level of the West Tower of Marina One — in a glass capsule — and is designed by the same architect who designed the Tokyo restaurant. Japanese influences can be observed throughout the restaurant and muted earthy hues have been brought together brilliantly to create a beautiful restaurant that exudes a captivating calmness and serenity. The interior of the restaurant might be largely Japanese, but the menu is all about the freshest and the best from New Zealand.

photo Folklore Destination Hotel Christmas 5.jpg
5-month-old Folklore is helmed by Chef Damian D'Silva, a known and respected figure in the local dining scene. Chef Damian has been whipping up heritage Eurasian and Peranakan fare for years, and loyal fans of Chef Damian can now get a taste of his food at Destination Hotel along Beach Road. Christmas is fast approaching and a Christmas menu that features 8 classic Eurasian dishes is in place to welcome families and friends.

One of the stars is Feng ($30), a traditional European curry dish which was a creation born during the sea expedition days by the Portuguese. Originally known as Sarpotel in Goa, Feng comprises an assortment of pig's offal that's cleaned and diced to 0.7cm cubes. The meat is mixed with Feng curry powder that is made up of 18 different spices that are handpicked, cleaned and sun dried before finely ground using a mill. Tons of other spices and ingredients are added in and the total cooking process can take up to 3 days. You can't quite find Feng anywhere else, and you can't miss this if you're visiting Folklore.

KisumƩ - New High-End Japanese Restaurant in Melbourne

photo Kisume Melbourne 10.jpg
Kisume is a high-end Japanese restaurant by The Lucas Group which also owns the famous Chin Chin. The name 'Kisume' itself means pure obsession with beauty. This was where I had my very first Japanese meal in Melbourne. I was so eager to dine here, you have no idea. Once I was seated at the counter, and presented with the menu, I wasted no time, and went for the omakase set ($88) right away. The chefs know best, don't they?

Kaniya - Amazing Family-Run Seafood Restaurant in Ibaraki

photo Kaniya Ibaraki Restaurant 3.jpg
Ibaraki is a prefecture near Tokyo, and it is home to many colleges and institutions. Thousands flock to Mito, the capital city, each year to visit the Hitachi Seaside Park, where different flowers are in bloom throughout the entire year. The park is decked in different colours through different seasoons and the gorgeous park is indeed breathtaking. If you're thinking of popping by Ibaraki for a short trip, you have to visit Kaniya! The service here is seriously impeccable. While we were working our way through our King Crab (9,800yen), the old lady washing dishes at the counter decided to help us. She broke the legs and fed us the succulent and juicy crab meat directly! We couldn't help but laugh as we bite the flesh off the shell, from her hands.

Rice Paper Sister - Solid Newcomer in the Melbourne Food Scene

photo Rice Paper Sister Melbourne 11.jpg
After dining at Rice Paper Scissors, I knew that a visit to Rice Paper Sister is a must. If you haven't already caught the reference, the latter is the sister restaurant of the former. Similar to their first restaurant, Rice Paper Sister also celebrates South-East Asian cuisine with their unique take on classic Southeast Asian dishes. Fresh and organic ingredients that are sourced locally are used here too, but the dining experience here seems to be a tad more sophisticated and refined.

(CLOSED) Pickleville by Sarnies - A New Coffee Haunt in the CBD

 photo Pickleville Sarnies 3.jpg
The Working Capitol on Robinson is a really pretty space that is home to my favourite cupcake bakery, co-working spaces, and now, Pickleville. The cafe has an abundance of natural light streaming in, and eye-catching gold details that I love. A big thank you to Alainlicious for bringing me here!

The five-star property has the best buffet restaurant, Edge, a cozy Atrium where high tea sets and cocktails can be enjoyed, a marketplace where you can get your hands on freshly made pastries and goodies, and the amazing Hai Tien Lo which dishes out phenomenal Chinese cuisine. MoVida - One of the Best Restaurants in Melbourne

photo Movida Melbourne Hosier Lane 6.jpg
With three outlets in the CBD, MoVida is definitely doing something right. I made a reservation about 2 months prior to my arrival in Melbourne, and stepping into the cozy and warm MoVida Original for my first dinner in this beautiful city proves to be one of the best decisions that I made in my entire trip. Packed to the brim on a Thursday night, MoVida has a team of the friendliest servers who won't hesitate to give you recommendations. Rice Paper Scissors - Possibly the Best Restaurant in Melbourne

 photo Rice Paper Scissors Melbourne
5.jpg
Before I went to Melbourne, I did plenty of research on where to eat. Every holiday for me is about food, food, and more food. I got in touch with a couple of food bloggers in Melbourne to ask for recommendations. I was so sure that my palate would be dazzled and the calories that I would be piling on would be worth it. Unfortunately, despite heeding recommendations and visiting some of the most raved about restaurants in Melbourne, I was sorely disappointed. I was there for three weeks, and really had alot to eat, but there are only a few places that I'll recommend. And, Rice Paper Scissors is one of them. The entire dining experience was amazing - the servers were really friendly, warm and helpful, the atmosphere was cozy and lively, and most importantly, the food was really good.

Ryo Sushi - Best Value For Money Omakase in Singapore

photo Ryo Sushi Orchid Hotel 5.jpg
Those who love Japanese food, particularly sushi, should be no stranger to Ryo Sushi. Even if you have not dined here before, you would most probably have heard of their amazingly-priced omakase sets. Omakase dinners have long been known to be expensive, with the prices hitting $350 per pax (before taxes) at most of the established and esteemed Japanese restaurants on our sunny little island. Shinji is one of the places where most people dream of dining at, but a meal there will cause significant damage to your piggy bank. If you're thinking of going for an awesome omakase dinner, but not keen on splurging that much, Ryo Sushi is undoubtedly the place for you.

Few know about Fuji Safari Park, which is near Mount Fuji. Fuji Safari Park gives you an experience somewhat similar to what you will experience in a safari in Africa, but at a fraction of the price.

photo Salt Grill Sky Ion Orchard 5.jpg
This is my second visit to Salt. The first time was in 2012 during Restaurant Week. I remember loving the ambience and having pretty great things to say about the food. 5 years on, I'm back again. This time, I was here to celebrate my birthday. Of course I was excited to celebrate my special day at one of the most highly acclaimed restaurant in Singapore, perched on the 55th storey in the heart of town, no less.
